Many projects are now procured using a competitive tender process, whether that be a new school extension or the refurbishment of a health sector building. This month I have been involved in two separate tenders where the Price/Quality ratio was 40/60. Companies put so much effort into compiling a competitive price; this often involves hours upon hours of sourcing and comparing quotes and could also involve compiling a Bill of Quantities if an NEC Option A contract is being used. If up to 60% of marks are allocated to Quality, then the same, if not more focus should be put on ensuring full marks are achieved in the technical submittal section.

I will be showing examples of how marks are commonly dropped, as well as how to analyse a question in detail, and present an answer to ensure full marks are achieved.
